Overview
The SACCSG was founded in 1987 by a core group of paediatricians working with children with cancer. The group aims to bring together paediatric oncologists and other medical professionals dedicated to the management of childhood cancer with the ultimate aim of improving survival rates of children with cancer in the region. In the past few years it has performed large multicentre retrospective studies, as well as initiating similar prospective studies. The group is entirely self-funded and receives minimal funding from CHOC Childhood Cancer Foundation for certain activities. Future aims include implementation of nationwide treatment protocols, publication of results and expansion of palliative care services.
